Muv-Luv Alternative is a science fiction visual novel that follows the story of Takeru Shirogane, an average high school student who discovers he has been transported to an alternate world where humanity is on the brink of extinction. With the help of his friends and allies, Takeru must fight against alien forces known as BETA in order to save mankind from complete destruction. Along the way, he will discover secrets about himself and uncover mysteries surrounding this new world. Ultimately, he must decide whether or not to accept his newfound power and responsibility in order to protect those around him or reject it all together.
